- 1/2 red cabbage (small, 1/2 of a 2-3 lb cabbage)
- 3 small carrots
- 1 yellow onion
- 4 Tbsp. toasted sesame oil (divided, peanut or vegetable oil can be used, but sesame oil gives everything more flavor)
- sesame seeds (Optional:, for serving)
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp. low sodium soy sauce (see note below)
- 2 Tbsp. water (see note below)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 inch ginger (grated)
- 1 Tbsp. honey
- 1 Thai chili pepper (small, finely chopped, or 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional)
