- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 envelope onion soup mix (French, see notes for homemade version)
- 2 Tbsp. flour (all-purpose, or gluten-free flour if you are on a gluten free diet)

too much vinegar. we would try it again without the red wine vinegar but nobody liked it much
