- 1 pkg. gumbo base (ZATARAIN'S®)
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 lb. shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 lb. smoked sausage (cut into 1-inch cubes)
- gumbo filé (ZATARAIN'S®)

Directions
- Bring water, Gumbo Base and oil to boil in large saucepot on medium heat, stirring to dissolve any lumps. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Stir in shrimp and sausage; cover. Simmer additional 30 minutes
- Serve over rice and sprinkle with Gumbo Filé, if desired

I added okra, diced tomatoes, green pepper, green onions, mirepoix, and subbed lump crab for the sausage. Kicked it up w/ four splashes of Tabasco sauce. Tre bien e merci beaucoup!

Pretty good dish. I needed to add more veggies for my tasting. Plus I made my own base. It was so good! But following this recipe exactly might make the dish a little bland. Overall, it was good!
