So great! I added two containers of mushrooms & put an additional bowl of warmed cream of mushroom on the side to top it off with.

Amazing!!!! Made my own cream of mushroom and wow! It doesn’t take that long to make, and it makes all the difference with regards to homemade, unctuous flavor. Kids and husband loved it. I had some leftover poached chicken and it worked perfectly. Will definitely make again!

This is a good base recipe. I riffed off of it and it turned out delicious. Here's what I did: I thought I had tortellini, but didn't, so used a half a bag of some fancy pasta I had left in the cupboard. I didn't have mushrooms or chicken, so I cut up 5 turkey hot dogs and substituted condensed cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom. I also took the 2/3 of an onion that has been in my fridge for two weeks and chopped and sauted it in butter. I also threw in a small handful of slivered almonds. In hindsight, I probably should have put them in earlier to toast up a little more flavor in the butter, but I still think they added to the dish even though they turned out more cooked than roasted. Once the onion was cooked but not fully translucent yet, I added about a tablespoon of minced garlic, a large handful of green beans chopped in about 2" lengths, a dash of salt, and sprinkle of chili powder. I threw the hot dog pieces in the skillet to warm up as well. When the pasta was ready, I put it in a 9x12" glass baking pan, dumped all the stuff in the skillet on it, and mixed it up with the cream of chicken soup. Then I added a layer of shredded parmesan cheese that had threatened to go moldy so I had put it in the freezer. Topped it off with Trader Joe's fried onions, and into the oven @ 400 for 10 minutes. It was so good the kids all had seconds, and got rid of some leftovers to boot!

I took artistic license with this dish after reading the reviews. I added heavy cream to the CoM and it was still thick, so all good there. I also added some minced garlic, chopped onion slice and a little salt and pepper to the mixture. I fried fresh mushrooms and canned green beans in olive oil. I topped with fresh shredded parm and melted bread crumbs and butter for a nice crust. I dont mean to sound conceited but without these tweeks I dont think it would of been as good.

This recipe is close to FANTASTIC as-is. I think I will try some modifications next time.
WARNING: Make sure you are buying cheese tortellini. I accidentally bought meat-filled, and it didn't do this recipe any favors. Cheese would have been superior, by far.
Just plain cream of mushroom soup as the sauce tasted like pasta in canned CoM soup. I know the recipe said not to add additional liquid, but I might try a smidge of whole milk, 1/2 & 1/2, or heavy cream next time to reduce gloppiness and give a bit more character to the sauce. I think I'll also add some garlic/onion powder and/or other season salt for a bit more flavor.
We used green beans as suggested, but I think I would try other veggies (also suggested by the recipe) - likely broccoli or peas.

It was great. I added sautéed garlic and spinach to it. I don’t think I’ll use green beans next time though

This recipe is absolutely delicious, however using a rotisserie chicken and the tortellini from the refrigerator section makes it an expensive meal for about 4 servings. I used baby portobello mushrooms and found a can of cream of cremini and shiitaki mushroom soup by Campbell’s. I also added some minced garlic and salt and pepper. I would serve this again if I were having friends over for dinner.

Can't stand the texture of mushrooms canned. Make your own and add time and effort, but better flavor.

The picture of the food looks way better than it actually tastes. it’s not terrible, I just prefer more sauce: olive oil, butter or something. The recipe is extremely easy though.

Not near as well as I was hoping. The combination of flavors was a little much. I even used asparagus instead of green beans. It wasn’t bad, just not something I’d make again.
