- 6 cups bread cubes (dry white or wheat)
- 2 cups Granny Smith apples (chopped unpeeled, 3 medium)
- 1 cup dried cranberries (dried cherries, or raisins)
- 2 Tbsp. fresh sage (snipped, or 1 1/2 teaspoons dried sage, crushed)
- 1 Tbsp. fresh thyme (snipped, or 1 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed)
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth (if using stuffing mix, use 3 to 3 1/4 cups broth)
- 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional)
