- 4 apples (large, I believe that golden delicious is what Cracker Barrel uses, but I always use granny smith as that's what the Mr. prefers)
- 2 1/2 cups apple cider (spiced, I use the Trader Joe's brand, you could also use regular apple cider or juice)
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 4 Tbsp. white granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. canela
- 1/8 tsp. cloves
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 pinch salt (optional, but I think it helps build the flavor)
- 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
