Cornbread is Southern, no maple syrup, please!! Southern cornbread is Martha White cornmeal, Only a little touch (1/3 cup maybe) of Martha White flour, eggs, good buttermilk, a little hot bacon grease from a HOT iron skillet, and a touch of sugar. BAM! Southern cornbread!!! (Too much flour makes cornbread too much like cake, the hot bacon grease makes it moist.

Great recipe! Pretty basic, and it tastes great every time. The maple syrup adds the right touch of sweetness. Pairs well with chili.

I am not a huge fan of cornbread. My husband is a southerner so I have been hunting around for a good recipe, and this is it. Simple, easy, and extremely tasty. Thank you!

It was delicious, i used sweet corn and instead of syrup i used honey, definitely would do it again.

Turned out great, again its not over the top sweet, so that was a nice change. The house loved it.

Great cornbread. Perfect flavor, just a little sweet, and moist. I used a very good syrup with vanilla and cinnamon notes and they showed up perfectly in the bread. Also: it’s relatively healthy 🤘👍🏼

Made this 3x already by adding 3tbsp sugar, whole stick of butter in a cast iron pan for 20min. Goes wonderful with our chili and soups. Thanks for the original recipe!

Fluffy version of cornbread vs grainy. Taste was good and paired nicely with my cajun dish! easy!!
