Awesome cake! I had to cook it 20 minutes longer than it says but it came out beautiful. It’s very rich and buttery. I was a little apprehensive about the shortening but I think it gives it a nice heavy crust. Was also confused about “1/2 shortening” but I went with it and used the Crisco blocks and used half of one which was 1/2 cup. Served it with fresh macerated strawberries and a touch of whipped cream on the side.
