  • 1 pound lasagna noodles (box of dry, you will need 16 noodles. A one pound box contains 20 noodles so you will have four extra. Usually a few get broken so this usually works out)
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup onions (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound sausage meat (ground Italian, hot or sweet your choice)
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes (we use Cento)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons basil (or 3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil)
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh mint
  • 2 pounds whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Italian flat leaf parsley (chopped fresh)
  • 2 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella (sliced into 12 slices)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    This came out amazing! Everyone loved it. Next time I will definitely add more of the ricotta cheese mixture as it was phenomenal :)

    I added about 3 tablespoons of brown sugar to my meat sauce and I ran out of mozzarella so I added some Colby Jack on top. I only used 1 cup of tomato sauce in the bottom.

    Delicious lasagna! I used sour cream and herb cream cheese instead of the ricotta and added a bit less salt. We loved it!

    This lasagna is excellent! We have used their sauce recipe which is amazing when we have time and used a jar when we didn't. We have also done it with and without the sliced mozzarella, used dry and instant noodles, and used a variety of combinations of meats. It is always delicious! Comfort food at its best.

    It turned out great. It was my best lasagne ever. I only used ground beef, because my husband doesn't eat pork. I also omitted the mint. I felt it wasn't necessary and I used mixed italian cheeses and a cheddar/mozzarella mix.

    It was really easy to make and delicious. I substituted the sausage meat with ground meat because that’s what I had but still it was excellent. Definitely would make it again!

    Excellent recipe, best I’ve found. Delicious lasagna. It needs a little more salt in the sauce (purely my opinion), but no other adjustments necessary.

    Excellent! Made it with ground turkey instead of ground beef and sausage as a friend does not eat beef or pork. I also doubled the fresh basil. This definitely is a crowd pleaser!
