- 1/2 cup molasses (don’t use blackstrap; it tends to be bitter)
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder (Hershey’s Special)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. salt (I use sea salt)
- powdered sugar
- cocoa
- 1 cup softened butter (2 sticks))
- 1/8 tsp. sea salt (a pinch of)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract (can also use peppermint flavoring but may want to use less)
- 2 Tbsp. heavy cream
- 10 mint candies (– 15 Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane, chopped finely)
