- 3/4 cup plain yogurt (whole milk recommended)
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 Tbsp. flavored oil (neutral)
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp. minced ginger (finely)
- 2 tsp. sweet paprika (smoked)
- 1 tsp. garam masala
- Garam Masala (homemade, STRONGLY recommended)
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. green cardamom (ground)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. ghee (or oil)
- 1 yellow onion (very large, finely chopped, about 2 1/2 cups)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. minced garlic (finely)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. minced ginger (finely)
- 2 tsp. Garam Masala (click link for homemade garam masala recipe, STRONGLY recommended)
- 2 tsp. ground coriander
- 2 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 tsp. sweet paprika
- 1 tsp. ground turmeric
- 1 tsp. chili powder (Kashmiri, optional for heat, or cayenne pepper)
- 1/4 tsp. green cardamom (ground)
- 1 whole brown cardamom (optional but recommended)
- 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 1/2 cups tomato puree (plain, /sauce)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (plus more for garnish)

Bought some kashmiri chili powder for this dish instead using cayenne pepper. i actually added another teaspoon of it too. I think it really made a huge difference! I used chicken breasts and put under the broiler. Dish is awesome!
