- 1 onion (sliced)
- 3 garlic cloves (pounded)
- 1 Tbsp. ginger (pounded)
- 6 green chillies (slit, seeded and pounded)
- 1 tomato (diced)
- 2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
- 1 tsp. chilli powder
- 1 tsp. tumeric powder
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. yogurt
- 250 grams basmati rice (washed, soaked and drained)
- 2 Tbsp. ghee
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 green cardamoms
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cloves
- 350 mL water
- 1 pinch saffron threads
- coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1 handful fried shallots (optional)
- 200 grams plain yogurt (unsweetened)
- 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1 dash paprika
- 1 Tbsp. raisins
- 1 Tbsp. caster sugar (or to taste, optional)
