  • 4 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 2/3 cups butter (cut into small cubes)
  • 1 2/3 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups pitted cherries (or blueberries)

    Directions

    1. Heat oven to 350°F. In a bowl, mix the flour, oats, butter, sugar, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Rub the butter into the mixture with your fingers then stir in the cherries.
    2. Spread onto a greased 12 x 15 inch baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove and cool on a wire rack before cutting into 2 inch bars.
