- 1 tsp. garlic paste (ginger)
- 1 tsp. garam masala (adjust to suit your taste)
- 1/2 tsp. red chili powder (adjust)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 3 coriander leaves (finely chopped, or mint/ pudina)
- 10 cashew nuts (or 1 tbsp poppy seeds or roasted gram, refer notes)
- 4 Tbsp. coconut (pieces chopped)
- 1 bay leaf (small or ½ of large)
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 star anise
- 3 green cardamoms
- 1 cinnamon stick (small)
- 3 cloves
- fennel seeds (Generous pinch of crushed saunf /)
- 1 mace (strand of)
