Mine turned out great!
I made half a recipe since it is only my husband and I; still made a lot.
I cooked the stew a liitle different than the directions. Putting it in the oven at 250 degrees didn't seem right/hot enough.
So these are the changes that I made:
I simmered the beans in a saucepan for 30 minutes. Remember... if you need to add water to beans while they're cooking, the water MUST be hot. otherwise, the beans will be hard.
Then, after the beans were done simmering I placed all my ingredients plus the full 28-oz can of crushed tomatoes and an additional two cups of water in a large pot. I simmered the stew for 1 hour then added the half cup of wine and simmered for an additional 45 minutes.
It turned out really great!

I've made this twice. First time it was great. I did it I the crock pot that time. This time I did it I the oven as directed. Not even close to done in 3 hours. Beans still crunchy, meat half raw. No liquid cooked off. Probably needs 6 hours to even get close to done. Or they meant 250C...
Eight more hours in the crockpot and it was still crunchy beans. Two hours cooking on the stove top finally got it to a point it was decent.
In the future, I'll soak the beans overnight. Also I'll sear all the meats not just the sausage.
