I was worried about the cinnamon content of this recipe being too much, but it was absolutely perfect. Barley is our favorite hot cereal and I made this to go with our barley, and it cooked up so easily and so perfectly and was absolutely the perfect complement. One recipe got entirely eaten at dinner. (What could be a better dinner than barley and pear pie filling?)

I doubled the recipe. Used most for a pie immediately and put the rest in small jars. Haven't tried the pie yet, but the filling is quite tasty!
