- 3 Tbsp. rice wine (or mirrin)
- 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 cms root ginger (piece of, grated)

- red chilli (deseeded and chopped)
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- onion (a small, chopped fine)
- star anise
- 1 tsp. chinese five-spice powder
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tomato puree (a tbsp)
- 250 mL chicken stock
- 2 sticks rhubarb (trimmed and cut into 2cm chunks.)
