- 1 lemon (large)
- 1 cup sugar (set aside 1 tablespoon for sprinkling)
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour (set aside 1/4 cup of this to toss with the blueberries)
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. kosher salt (I like 1.25 tsp)
- 2 cups fresh blueberries (picked over)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (see FAQs below)

My family and I loved this! We are not huge blueberry fans though. It’s hard to find good ripe juicy sweet blueberries….. I guess is why. Except for some of my blueberries being tart it was amazing. Will be making this again!

here is my modification, half butter(4tbsp), 2 eggs, yogurt(because I didnt have buttermilk) and half lime juice instead of lemon. For fruits I used sweet and tart cherries. it tasted amazing

Amazing! Very moist and fluffy. Great flavor. Will definitely make it again.

This recipe was really great & I’m not the biggest fan of of blueberry things. The cake was moist and fluffy and I would definitely make it again! However, next time I would use less blueberries.
Note** because I used salted butter I didn’t add a full tsp of salt that the ingredients call for. I just add about 1/4 a tsp.

This was amazing! Absolutely delicious—the whole family enjoyed it. It really did take the entire time plus some to bake in an 8x8 dish. I put some foil strips around the edges so they didn’t get too browned as the middle cooked.
