- salt and ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 pinch cumin
- 8 hot dog (links, on each sausage, make a lengthwise cut that goes from one end to the other. The cut must be superficial, i.e., less than half of the thickness of the sausage **)
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 white onion (or medium yellow, small diced)
- 1 green pepper (small diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 2 cups water (or beef broth/stock)
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 lime
- 8 loaves French rolls (or hot dog buns)
- shredded mozzarella
