- 4 slices bacon (I like center cut bacon)
- 1 onion (small-medium, diced)
- 6 cloves garlic (pressed or minced)
- 4 cups vegetable broth (can use chicken or beef, or even water instead)
- 1 cup water (more if desired, for "soupier" beans)
- 1 Tbsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- cooked white rice (for serving, my Brazilian rice recipe will be live on Friday!)

Had to post. This is the best kind of recipe, delicious, easy and healthy. Thanks for posting. I have used leftovers to replace plain black beans in breakfast casseroles, and the results are terrific. I make this often and eat much more black beans these days, so thank you!
