  • freshly ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups dark beer
  • 10 garlic cloves (peeled and minced)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger (piece of, peeled and minced)
  • 3 tablespoons Japanese rice vinegar (or Chinese)
  • 1.5 ounces semisweet chocolate (or bittersweet, chopped, I used Xocopili)

    The best short rib recipe I have made I did add 8 oz beef stock instead of water I cooked it on low in a slow cooker and added the Hoison sauce after 4 hours. After cooling for a total of 6 hours, it was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender!,
