It was good, more like runny stew, nothing like ghoulish, missing some vegetables.
I would add carrots if I make this again. I did add a bit of sour cream to my bowl and I felt it enhanced the flavor I was looking for in ghoulish. It was very easy to make.

Delicious! I used ground beef seasoned with S&P and garlic powder (and drained), I added in a can of mushrooms and sautéed with the onions with some white salt, I also 1 can (2 cups) diced tomatoes with the broth (with 1 cup less broth) and a bay leaf, and sprinkled in some frozen peas at the end as that’s how I ate it as a kid! Yummy!!

I had this style soup at a restaurant one time and been looking for something similar ever since in recipe form. This soup is it exactly. The only difference is the soup I had at the restaurant used ground beef instead of stew meat. I used the ground been when I made this recipe and it was spot on. One of the best soups I’ve had period.

Delicious! I have been looking for a soup like this for ages! Quick and easy to make while very tasty and satisfying.

This recipe serves 6 with 160 calories/serving but the contributor's recipe, FOR THE SAME AMOUNT INGREDIENTS, serves 8 with 394 calories per serving! Which is erroneous? I love the recipe but love correct nutrition more!

Awesome! Made as in the recipe except put the potatoes in with the meat. Better than Budapest!

I was born in Bohemia (Czech), so I must know best, you can never get disappointed with this soup :) You can also try minced beef, which is another variation of how to make this soup with meat :)

I have made multiple pots thus far and each time it turns out great or excellent! My suggestion is add chopped mushrooms with the meat/other ingredients for an excellent flavor boost. If you want to thicken the pot or add munch, I suggest adding broccoli and/or cauliflower; you can also add your typical stew/soup vegetables to add more munch. Best part of this recipe is how great it tastes, how much it can feed, and how cheap it is to make.

Aromatic. Interesting flavors and a little spicy!
I've made this four times now, always comes out exceptional! Variations to add: mushroom/celery/carrots/tomatoes. If you have a pint of home canned tomatoes, it makes this soup even better, just leave out 2 cups of broth.

Excellent! This is a great choice if you want something other than the basic winter soups. I usually end up adding more of the spices to taste ... it always comes out to be super aromatic and flavorful, which I think makes this soup stand out. Definitely on the dinner rotation!

Very hearty and perfect for a cool winter's day! The only change I made to the recipe was to throw in some carrots; though I did have the thought of adding just a little bit of red pepper flakes for the next time around! Thanks for sharing!
