  • black pepper
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 4 large carrots (cut in ½ inch pieces)
  • 2 bay leafs
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce

    I thought it was very good. My wife, who doesn’t like any condiments claimed she could taste the ketchup, especially in the sauce. May try it again but without the ketchup

    Awesome! Super easy and delicious I actually did it in my cast iron and covered in the oven w glass lid I only had a 2 lb meat so I only cooked for 2 hours in the oven it was still moist with incredible flavor

    I really enjoyed this recipe, I made the mashed potatoes with it as suggested. I used a baking pan and covered it in tin foil since I don't have a dutch oven. I did overcook it a bit, so next time I'll be more conscious to cut down on the time if I have a smaller roast. I'll definitely be using this one again.
