I agree with the earlier comments by Davis and Nicewaner. I cut the entire recipe in half because I'm on my own and didn't want to be stuck with it for days and days. Even so, I couldn't believe what a mountain of chopped cabbage I wound up with, after carefully weighing it to make sure I had the correct amount! I kept putting the mixture in larger and larger bowls and utensils in order to make sure there was room for it all. My 9 x 13 pan could barely cope with it, and it made the proportion of cabbage to meat and tomato seem way off. And the result was watery and nearly tasteless. I don't know what (if anything) I did wrong, but this recipe was not successful. I ate some, but I can't even bring myself to save the leftovers.

Very tasty with a few additions...added 8 garlic cloves, a can of kidney beans(because they go well with cabbage and hamburger) a bit more pepper...will make many more times

Hubby and I found this to be a delicious dish, and even better the next day! I halved the recipe and it still fills a 9X13 pan, and is plenty for the two of us to have two meals. Some changes I’ve made are stirring 1/2T sugar, 1/2 t ground thyme (an ingredient that a friend suggested, and it did bump up the flavor) and 1 can drained (no salt added) tomatoes into the mixture. Also, next time, I will reduce the cooking time by 15 minutes.

It was delicious. I did add peppers (fine diced). But I cooked it on top of the stove. My family loved it.

I made this tonight and was not impressed. You might find yourself asking how 2 teaspoons of spices consisting of salt, pepper, and garlic powder can sufficiently season 56 ounces of liquid ingredients, 3lbs of cabbage, a cup of rice, and 2lbs of ground beef. Well, it doesn't work. It is a fine base (flavor-wise), but it is rather bland - even after I put in more pepper and garlic powder. Also, unless you are using minute rice, your rice may not be properly cooked by the end of the cooking time. My rice was hard and crunchy.
I'm not a novice in the kitchen. This recipe, however, is not a success unless some significant changes are made.

Makes a ton! Will not fit in 13x9 pan. Made it with Jasmine rice. Tastes great!

It was so easy and delicious, I added beef bouillon to the ground beef, onions and minced garlic. Will definitely make again!
