I have made these beans a number of times and always have received compliments on them. The first time I followed the directions exactly as written. Additions to other batches I have made were to add 1 & 1/2 lbs. of hamburger, garlic, 1 Tbl. smoked paprika, 2 Tbl. Worchester sauce, 2 Tbl. Balsamic vinegar, 2 tsp. dry mustard, 2 Tbl. molasses, 1/4 cup ketchup, and 12 oz. dark beer. If the beans loosen up I remove the cover for the last hour or so.
