- 17.3 oz. puff pastry sheets (I like Pepperidge Farm best)
- 20 cups Granny Smith apples (1 and 3/4ths pounds before being peeled/cored)
- 1 Tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 Tbsp. white flour (all-purpose)
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark, I use dark)
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 large egg (+ 1 tablespoon water, whisked together)
- coarse sugar (Optional:, for topping, or you can use cinnamon sugar*)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 Tbsp. milk (1%, 2%, or whole recommended)
