  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 150 milliliters lukewarm water (adjust as necessary)
  • 40 grams butter (cubed)
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten, for egg wash before baking)

  • 3 cups diced apples (your favourite cooking apple - I used Spartan, but Spy or Idared are other good choices, peeled and diced into 1/2-3/4 inch cubes)

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons butter
