- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold and cut into 1-inch pieces)
- 1 apple (medium size)
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 cup apple butter (good quality prepared or homemade)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. milk
- turbinado sugar (sanding sugar, or granulated sugar, for sprinkling)
