I leave out the bay leaf and go heavy on th other herbs and extra onion. My family tops ours with hot sauce and cheddar when we serve, and everyone salts to taste. I tried several before this. this is everyone's favorite. Also i tend to use gluten free pasta with this and my family still loves it.
