- 1/2 red onion
- 1/2 habanero chile
- 4 1/4 cups neutral-flavored cooking oil (such as peanut, vegetable, canola, safflower, or corn, more or less depending on size of pan)
- 2 tsp. kosher salt (more or less to taste)
