How to Shuck Corn the Easy Way

How to Shuck Corn the Easy Way

Instead of spending a portion of your precious free time in the summer painstakingly cleaning ears of corn, use this awesome, time-saving tip instead! Forget picking out all those strands of silk and husk by hand: all you need to clean your corn in seconds is a microwave. Evidently, the microwave creates steam between the corn and the husk, which allows for easy removal. This awesome video from America's Test Kitchen shows you how.

If you can't watch the video, here are the basic directions.

  1. Cut the stalk end of the corn about 1 inch above the last row of kernels.
  1. Place the ears of corn on a plate and microwave them for 2-4 minutes.
  1. Once it's done, grab the corn by the un-cut end, shake it and squeeze the husk at the same time. The corn will slide out of the other end husk and silk free (and fully-cooked too!)

That's all you need to do! And here are a few ways to enjoy your Yummly shucked corn.
